This looks really interesting, and something I’ve been looking at doing sometime in the future.

A few questions: What kind of textbooks do you use? and what are your ideas of the different levels – what would you consider to be intermidiate for example?

Thankyou very much for showing an interest in our school!

    In regards to your questions...

The textbooks that we mainly utilise are "Minna No Nihongo 1/2", "Nihongo chuu kyuu J 301/501" and the "JLPT Perfect Master Grammar text level 1/2" of which all are quite widely used throughout many Japanese language schools in Japan.
The levels are basically based around the JLPT language proficiencies (being 4 through to 1) although, a zero knowledge course is also available.
In regards to an idea of what we can offer as an intermediate course; it involves a progression from the basic Japanese grammar structures into more intricate and subtle expressions, there is some Kanji practice, but essentially (all of) the courses are more primarily based around active speaking language practice as opposed to straight writing based learning. This is to help promote a more practical knowledge of Japanese for everyday usage. In regards to a JLPT level, our intermediate course would be primarily composing of level 2 but also making use of some aspects from level 1 (not a course that is really recommended for someone not seriously interested in truly learning Japanese).

I hope that this helps to answer your questions, please feel free to contact us if you would like any more information.

    Yours Sincerely

    Peter and Kayo

Do you have classes ONLY based on speaking? I know some people who are interested in learning to communicate but don’t want to have to learn the characters.
